Simple Dos And Donts When Shopping For Wedding Dresses

Jul 10, 2013 | Posted by:  abi s

Choosing the right wedding dress attire is at the top of the list of things to do for a bride. She wants to wow her guests and look her most fetching for her husband-to-be. Even if you have decided on your wedding theme and style you may still have a hard time finding the right dress. Here are a few do’s and don’ts that will help you over this hurdle.

Shopping For Wedding Dress

Do:

  1. Choose a dress that is reflective of the wedding location. If you are having the traditional formal wedding then a ball gown or an A-line wedding dress will be perfect. Outdoors weddings call for something a bit less formal, choose a strapless sheath in a lightweight material for comfort. On the beach a flirty wedding dress in a shorter style is a great choice.

  2. Choose a dress that is the right color for your skin tone

  3. Show your personality in your wedding dress choice and with the wedding jewelry that you choose. Even a traditional wedding gown can be made flashy or whimsical with your choice of accessories.

  4. Have an open mind. Try on wedding dresses that you may not think are you, shapes that you never thought you could wear. It may be that your perfect wedding dress is not at all what you thought it would be.

Don’t:

  1. Let your choice of wedding jewelry outshine the star of the show which should be the wedding attire.

  2. Choose a wedding dress that is less dressy than your wedding guests attire. If the invitation says formal make sure your dress reflects this as well.

  3. Wear a formal full length dress with a train to a beach wedding. Wedding gown cleaners may not be able to save the delicate fabrics.

  4. Be afraid to go against tradition, after all it is your wedding and you can have it your way.

For many brides this will be their first formal event since their high school prom. And while prom was nice there are certain things you cannot wear to a wedding. Finding the right wedding attire for the venue and theme is a juggling act and the source of much frustration.
