About US

A little about Emily:
I'm an attorney, and I currently teach undergraduate legal studies both on-ground and online. Before attending law school, I taught music at an elementary school for two years.

Rachel, my younger sister, and I began writing our book,

Something New: The Bride's Complete Guide to Writing Thank You Notes

, after my
wedding in 2007
. In 2007, I graduated from law school, took the bar exam,
, and moved to California all in the span of four months. As a result of this hectic schedule, my
thank you notes for wedding gifts were not the priority they should have been
. We hope this book will
save brides (and grooms) time and help them complete their thank you notes in a timely fashion. The book and its companion are available for sale on our blog

and in a few area stores.
My husband, Drew, and I moved back to Alabama from California in July of 2011. A bout with decompression sickness brought us back. Drew and I went scuba diving in Mexico while on vacation, and he developed decompression sickness. As a result of his treatment in decompression chambers in Mexico and then California, he developed an interest in medicine and decided to return to school full-time.

Drew and I just had our first child-William Taylor Smith! We might be alittle biased, but we think he is one of the cutest babies around.

A little about Rachel:
Well, as a quick introduction, I am an accountant and pianist by training (although on a lesser scale than Emily). Lately, I've been doing more accounting than piano playing, but I hope to pick up the piano soon again. I
in July of 2011 and recently finished building a house with my husband Jordan. I can't tell you how many people have told us you're supposed to wait until you've been
at least seven years before you try to build a house together. But, we survived!

I'm enjoying exploring the world of
blogging and self-publishing
with my sister Emily. We have met so many interesting people and learned so much through the process. Needless to say, Emily and I are never bored. One of my favorite quotes that seems to exemplify our lives right now is the following from Dr. Seuss:

'How did it get so late so soon? It's night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon'?
I'm betting a few of your brides feel like this quote exemplifies your lives too. If it does, then our books are meant for you! They will save you so much time with your thank you notes. You should definitely check into them at .
