The Sapphire Flute-Guitar Duo has become one of New Englands leading wedding duos with almost a decade of experience. The charming sound of this particuler insturmentation adds the perfect compliment to any special occasion. The Sapphire Duo has performed at locations such as The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and The Cathedral of the Pines overlooking the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The group has been dazzeling audiences with enchanting classical music as well as jazz and more contemporay styles. The Sapphire Duo also welcomes the opportunity to put together any custom musical arrangments you may want to hear on your special day. In addition to playing music together they are also husband and wife.
Flutist Ona Jonaityte is recognized for her “exceptional talent, poise and drive, as well as technical achievement and the ability to communicate devotion to flute music through performance”. Currently, she is a piccolo player with the Indian Hill Symphony. She has performed with various orchestras, including Detroit Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera, Atlantic Symphony, Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theater Orchestra.

Ona is a first prizewinner of 27th James Pappoutsakis Competition, YAMAHA Woodwind Competition, and International Juodkrante Flute Competition.

In 2010 she received the Artist Diploma in Performance and in 2006 the Graduate Performance Diploma at The Boston Conservatory where she studied with Mrs. Linda Toote. In 2004 Ona studied in France at The Lyon National Conservatory of Music and Dance with Mr. Philippe Bernold and Mrs. Emannuelle Reville. In 2006 she graduated from The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater with Master in Performance and Teaching.

Since 2009 Jonaityte has been teaching and performing at The Boston University Tanglewood Institute. She is a board member of the James Pappoutsakis Flute Competition and the faculty at the Brimmer and May School.

Erik has been performing since his high school job playing for dinners at Nata’s restaurant where he grew up in Guilford CT. He has since become an integral part of the Boston music scene playing in both contemporary and classical guitar settings. This diversity is what makes Erik such a sought after musician.
Mr Puslys graduated Magna Cume Laude from Berklee College of music with a Bachelors degree in Professional Music. He then went on to receive a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Boston Conservatory. The Boston Conservatory is where Erik honed his classical guitar skills under the tutelage of William Buonocore.
Recently Erik played lead guitar in The Wild Party at the Footlight Club in Jamaica Plain. He has also performed in the pit orchestra for Rent, Passing Strange, Honk, The Wedding Singer,Working, Grease, The Sound of Music, Zombie Prom and Seussical The Musical. Last spring Erik had the rare opportunity to perform electric guitar in the Solar Return Suite with The MIT Wind Ensemble under the direction of Fred Harris.
Erik has participated in the Boston Guitar Fest at The New England Conservatory and The Bowdoin International Music Festival where he was awarded a performance based scholarship. Mr. Puslys has performed at Northeastern University’s Ryder Hall, St. Cecilia’s Parish Hall, The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Wheelock College Family Theatre, James Pappoutsakis Flute Competition Winner’s Recital, Allen Hall, The Berklee Performance Center, Studzinski Recital Hall at Bowdoin College, Portland Museum of Art and Seully Hall in Boston.
As a chamber musician Erik was featured in the 2009 Boston Guitar Project concert series where he performed with flutist Ona Jonaityte. Erik and Ona have recently performed at several schools in New Hampshire in conjunction with Monadnock Music. He has also coordinated the performances of musicians in the Bigelow Seven wing of Massachusetts General Hospital. He assumed this roll after performing there for several years
Erik participated in the master classes of Eliot Fisk, Sharin Isbin, , William Kanengiser, Antigoni Goni, Ricardo Iznaola, Adam Holzman and Jason Vieaux. Also Erik studied privately with Steve Vai, David Newsam, Bill Buonocore and Greshe Goryachev. Erik also holds a reputation as a prominent guitar instructor. He taught for several years at The Community Music Center of Boston where he served as Guitar Chair. I addition to teaching Erik worked with the outreach programs at The Community Music Center. Also his student won first place in the Annual David Lapin Competition during his second year. In 2008 Liam McCabe interviewed Erik for an article published in Making Music Magazine. Erik also teaches several students from his home in Jamaica Plain MA.
